Dear Parents,
Each Friday in religion class your
child and his or her classmates discuss the Gospel for Sunday
Mass. This preparation is part of making Holy Mass more
understandable and meaningful to a child. Following your
attendance at Mass each week, please discuss with your child
what he or she heard at Mass and use these ideas as a
springboard for conversations about our Catholic faith and
God’s care for His children. As you recall from your
child’s Baptism ceremony, you are your child’s first teacher
of the faith, and your child looks to you for guidance and
example.
There are two link options, one is a
paper called My Sunday Mass where your child can record
his or her ideas about Mass to take to school on Monday
morning. Also, for the few students in our school community
who are of a different faith tradition than Catholicism, there
is a separate sheet called
My Sunday Scriptures which
your child can use to respond to what he or she learned in
class discussions on Fridays about the scriptures. Your
child is also encouraged to complete this paper with you and
bring it to school on Monday as preparation for Monday’s
religion discussion.
There is some wisdom to consider in
the old adage, “The family that prays together stays
together!” Prayer draws us closer to the Lord and to one
another.
See you at
Mass!
