  • Step Up for Students – A state-approved nonprofit scholarship-funding organization that helps administer and determines student eligibility for the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for lower to middle-income families, for dependent children of a member of the United States Armed Forces, including reservists, and students with unique abilities, formerly Gardiner.

    • The Florida Tax Credit and Family Empowerment scholarships give families financial assistance toward private school tuition and fees. Scholarships are available to students in K-12. For the 2021/22 school year, qualified students received a scholarship averaging between $6,872 to $7,426 depending on grade and county of residence for the 2021-22 school year. Approval is based on household income. Check eligibility requirements and apply at www.stepupforstudents.org.

    • Beginning with the 2021-22 school year, the Gardiner Scholarship Program has been rolled into the Family Empowerment Scholarship. It will be referred to as the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA). FES-UA is different from other state scholarships. It functions like a bank account where you can withdraw funds to pay for your child's education, including tuition/fees for private schools tutoring and more. This scholarship is for students with a specific diagnosis.
