Welcome Letter to School Community from new Principal

Dear Nativity Catholic School Families,

As the newly appointed principal at Nativity Catholic School, it is my pleasure to join you in continuing the rich history of academic excellence and Christian based education. I am truly honored to be appointed to this position by Father Tapp and look forward to working with the faculty and staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where I attended Catholic schools for twelve years. I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BS degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Cleveland State University.

I began my teaching career at All Saints Catholic School in Cleveland and continued my educational experience teaching a variety of grade levels for the Cleveland Municipal School District. After receiving my master’s degree from Cleveland State University, I became a principal in Cleveland and continued my administration career as an elementary principal for the Mayfield School District. I retired in July of 2012 to pursue my desire to become a part of a family oriented environment based on Catholic values, near a beach!

I was very fortunate to have been offered a position at St. Mark Catholic School in Wilmington, North Carolina where I was able to lead a school that taught students spirituality based on the love of Christ with a focus on educating the whole child academically, spiritually and socially.

I come to Nativity with a great deal of experiences and have been blessed with many opportunities to lead and inspire staff and students. I look forward to furthering the mission of Nativity. I will emphasize a balance of spiritual, intellectual and physical growth from which socially and morally responsible leaders will emerge. I will work together with the entire school community to meet the needs of all students and to achieve academic excellence while building a strong faith in God.

I am married and have 4 amazing sons all ranging in age from 24-30. As a family, we love to watch and participate in sports activities and are huge Ohio State, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indians and Browns fans. In my down time, I enjoy playing tennis, (I am currently on 3 USTA teams), golf, (let’s not talk about my handicap) and biking. I also enjoy walking with my golden retriever, Abby and chocolate lab, Hershey.

I am looking forward to fostering a friendly, trusting relationship with the school, parish and parents for the ongoing development and benefit of each child. I am thankful to have this opportunity to be your principal this coming school year. I will strive to continue the model of excellence that Nativity has achieved. I will accept the challenge to make 2017-2018 a banner year with a strong commitment to Catholic education.

I am looking forward to a new school year and welcome the opportunity to meet all of you very soon.

Blessings upon your family,
Mary M. Myers
