Our PreK4 friends had a special visit from our 5th graders, who brought their recorders and shared their musical talents! Our little learners have been exploring the different instrument families—wind, string, and percussion—and discovering what makes each one unique. Seeing (and hearing!) the recorders in action gave them a real-life example of a wind instrument and brought their learning to life. The smiles, curiosity, and excitement in the room said it all. We are so proud of our 5th graders for being excellent role models and musicians, and we love seeing our students learn from one another. What a beautiful example of our school community in action!

Look who stopped by to say hello to our First Graders! Even though some of the chicks have already waddled off to their new homes, Mrs. Perez still has a few she’s caring for — and they came back for a special visit! We couldn’t believe how much they’ve grown since the day they first hatched. From tiny, fluffy hatchlings to bigger, stronger chicks with real feathers starting to show, they’ve changed so much in such a short time. Our first graders were absolutely thrilled by the surprise!

Ms. Meyer's 7th graders delved into the microscopic world this week, exploring everything from pond water to onions to cheek cells using their microscopes. They honed their scientific skills by staining their cheek cells to observe tiny, irregular blobs and see the cell membranes and the nuclei of these cells. In contrast, the plants they observed were much different. Using a different stain to visualize the onion cells, they observed the brick-like structures that characterize plant cells. Elodea cells were a treat! These underwater aquarium plants were abundant in chloroplasts, the organelles where photosynthesis takes place. The 7th graders did an amazing job of preparing their own wet mounts of slides and truly demonstrated their scientific capacity. In contrast, the plants they observed were much different. Using a different stain to visualize the onion cells, they observed the brick-like structures that characterize plant cells. Elodea cells were a treat! These underwater aquarium plants were abundant in chloroplasts, the organelles where photosynthesis takes place.

This morning, our school family gathered for Mass, celebrated by Father Mike and assisted by Deacon Bob. A heartfelt thank you to our 6th graders for leading and hosting the Mass so reverently — and bravo to our sweet kindergarteners, whose joyful voices filled the church as they led the choir. We are in our first week of Lent, and we’re reminded what this season is truly about. Lent isn’t about checking off boxes — it’s about opening our hearts to God’s mercy. That’s the real “sign of Jonah.” When Jonah preached to the people of Nineveh, they listened, repented, and changed. That’s the invitation for us, too. Father Mike shared the word METANOIA — a powerful Greek term meaning a profound change of heart, a change of ways, a change of attitude — in simple terms, turning back to God with intention. Let’s walk this Lenten journey with open hearts and ready spirits. Have a wonderful rest of your day, Cougars!
