Yesterday, our Nativity family gathered in the gym for a beautiful Veterans Day Prayer Service led by our Student Council. Together, we reflected, prayed, and expressed our profound gratitude to the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country.
We were proud to recognize members of our own Nativity community for their courageous service: Mr. Dennis Maningas and Mrs. Ann O’Connor, both of whom served in the United States Marine Corps; Mr. Michael Zahorsky, who served in the United States Army; and Fr. Mike Smith, our pastor, who served in the United States Air Force.
We began the ceremony with the Scouts presenting the U.S. flag, followed by Zoe Rosa leading the Pledge of Allegiance and a beautiful saxophone rendition of the National Anthem by Sophia Santos.
A special thank you to Master Sergeant Jose Hernandez, the grandfather of our Student Council President, Avaya, for serving as our guest speaker. With 22 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Master Sgt. Hernandez shared powerful reflections on honor, courage, and commitment—reminding us all of the true meaning of sacrifice and patriotism.
During the service, our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Seebaran, presented a check for $2,592 to the Knights of Columbus. This generous donation—made possible by our Nativity families—will help provide Thanksgiving meals for veterans in our community.
Our service concluded with the entire school joining together to sing “God Bless America,” filling the gym with unity, pride, and gratitude.
God bless our veterans—and God bless America!
